Sorry! INCORRECT

You have been pranked!  Spotted Zebras does not exist!

Zambia typically has plains zebras (Equus quagga), which are characterized by their black and white stripes.

Zebras get their stripes from melanocytes, the same type of cell that gives human skin its color, arranged in a unique pattern. Each zebra’s stripes are as unique as a fingerprint.

There are three main species of zebras:

  1. Plains Zebra (Equus quagga): This is the most common type of zebra, found in many parts of eastern and southern Africa. They have distinctive black and white stripes.
  2. Grevy’s Zebra (Equus grevyi): Grevy’s zebras are found in parts of Kenya and Ethiopia. They have narrower stripes compared to plains zebras, and their bellies are white instead of striped.
  3. Mountain Zebra (Equus zebra): Mountain zebras are found in southern Africa, particularly in Namibia and South Africa. They have broad stripes and a dewlap, a flap of skin under their necks, unlike other zebra species.
